  i went to school with a couple of jehovahs witnesses and they were ok people.some of you lot on here just need to get over it - i don't understand that if you were so bored with it -why did you get into it in the first place ?

  give it up - you made a mistake - get over it - or get therapy or something.. i used to go into school assemblies etc.

  and church occasionally and i was bored stiff so i presume its not something peculiar to jehovahs witnesses halls.i wouldn't go back now but whats the point in whinging about it like you lot?

  you seem very paranoid! ARE THEY OUT TO GET YOU?

  the reason I mentioned those is simply because they are the things I know jehovahs witnesses are not allowed to do- not complicated really?

  come on then explain to the uninitiated whats the big deal? are they keeping people against their will or brainwashing or hunting escaped prisoners down?

  city fan - sorry wouldn't know I lost contact after school -one went to college with me but different classes that was about it.

  whats to recover from?

  I presume they want to leave for a reason - like they want drink,drugs ,sex or have a different belief .just go get it! mind you might have to recover from the hangover I suppose?

  if you want something its a free country - no one forces someone into being one - or am I wrong?do they bag and gag them.and dont palm me off with some psychological crap about how they play with minds or something - I dont think theres that many zombies walkling around.and my mates at school weren't exactly ned flanders they just had different beliefs that got them out of RE.

  from what you say it sounds like things are a bit different in america than england - here things dont seem to be such a big deal.I've always thought americans take religion very seriously - sort of puritanical. I kind of think - not wanting to sound nasty - that a lot of people who got themselves into these things had reasons - and part of it seems support or belonging rather than actually believing something ( my mam still goes to church cos her friends go)- I dont think thats changed - its just where that support or sense of belonging comes from.

  Why dont you just stand on your own two feet and stop relying on other people?especially when you've already been stung - I dont see the difference in dealing with your church or dealing with strangers on the internet?if you've got issues with the JWs surely you'd want to get away from them and just not have anything to do with it anymore?including the whole subject.go make friends at school or work or whatever and dont have any dealings with people who make religion such a bid issue.

  I was brought up going to church but now I dont go cos I make my own decisions- no big deal!

  and dont send money to anyone- one of these people on here was asking for money so he could go to court- dont send any money to anyone. In england we have a view of these american evangelisers in white suits saying send me fifty dollars cos god says I need a rolls royce and souls will be saved!mugs game! there are so many people readty to take advantage of you and rip you off!

  to be honest I was using search engines ( I'm at work bored) and when I searched for a few different things this site kept coming up so basically I clicked out of coriosity and spent most of yesterday reading through stuff - some interesting but a lot of tripe on here.I'm not much of a bible basher and that stuff bores me to tears - but my mates at school were ok - a bit weird but who wasn't?and all the whinging just seems pointless - I really dont get it?

  surely thats the point he's making? why do you go on bothering to critisice and moan about something that you dont want or care for?

  I'll be honest I'm only on here cos I'm bored with my usual football site . but this site just seems ridiculous to the extreme! I just dont get it?

  I used to go into school assemblies etc. and church occasionally and I was bored stiff so I presume its not something peculiar to jehovahs witnesses halls.I wouldn't go back now but whats the point in whinging about it like you lot? just let other people make their own choice. from what my schoolfriends told me its got a lot more credibility than catholicism.

  I work in local council dealing with things from education to social services issues. and in every department there is a problem with paedophiles. this isn't something unique to jehovahs witnesses, as a sort of catholic I can say we havent got a leg to stand on in these issues. but this sort of thing goes on in every place where there is authority over someone - like in our care homes, schools, churches etc.even my grans church which is methodist.

  to those who have been abused my advice is that you take action against the individuals, but firstly get yourself the proper support from the authorities and focus on the individuals instead of wasting your time putting your effort into attacking indivdual organisations (most members of which have no bearing on your case). there are many groups on the internet that can give you proper support.

  to the others- as a catholic and someone involved with social services I can assure you I know people who've got far greater reasons to whinge about their upbringing than you lot - move on , start your "new life" or whatever it was that made you want get out - otherwise whats the point?
